Eligibility

Project Backpack provides school supplies to those in need enrolled in the current fall semester at Elgin Community College (District 509) or school districts U-46, D300, D301, D303, or D20 or reside therein.

Proof of Eligibility


You must show one of the following items as proof of your current fall enrollment in one of the districts mentioned above:

  • School Registration
  • Report card
  • Other proof of enrollment

If you cannot provide proof of enrollment, please bring proof of residency for one of the districts listed above.

On-Site Health and Dental Clinics

Requirements for Physicals

Greater Family Health will be on-site at Project Backpack to provide physicals and immunizations for the upcoming school year! Most insurances will be accepted; the cost for uninsured patients will be $25.

Please bring a photo ID and insurance card to the Greater Family Health table and complete the paperwork provided on-site.

Requirements for Dental Work

Familia Dental will be on-site with a mobile unit from Molina Healthcare to provide dental services, including exams, cleanings, fluoride, and sealants. Services are free with most insurances.

Important notes:

  • All students are eligible to participate, regardless of their ability to pay.
  • Complimentary screenings can be provided for uninsured students or those unable to afford services.
  • Students without insurance can receive an exam and cleaning for $20 with cash or check.
  • All parents will be contacted within 24–48 hours after services, regardless of whether follow-up care is needed, to discuss their child’s dental health.
  • School Forms will also be provided that day for everyone who needs the Illinois Proof of Dental Examination Form.

To secure an appointment, please fill out the Consent Form by July 30. Write "ECC Project Backpack" as the site name on the form. Walk-ins are also welcome.
